Why lacrosse players wear grip socks
Lacrosse is a dodging game. Split dodge, roll dodge, face dodge, then a hard stop to shoot or feed. Every one of those puts your foot sideways into the cleat, and on turf the cleat stops dead. A standard sock doesn't. The foot slides, the cut is a fraction late, and the defender has recovered.

Do grip socks work for lacrosse?
Lacrosse is dodging and hard stops, and both drive the foot sideways or forward into the cleat. Grip socks hold the foot to the cleat so it stops when the cleat stops. The difference shows up on the plant foot of a dodge.
Can you wear grip socks with lacrosse cleats?
Yes, any lacrosse or football cleat. Grip socks are cut like a standard sock with grip pads on the sole, so they fit the same way inside the cleat.
Do you wear grip socks under lacrosse socks?
If your program wears team socks, the grip sock goes on first and the team sock over it. Many players cut the foot off the team sock so only the grip sock is inside the cleat. If you play in calf socks, the grip sock can be the only sock.
Are grip socks allowed in high school and college lacrosse?
Uniform rules cover visible kit, and a grip sock under the team sock isn't visible. If you wear a grip sock as your outer sock, check your league's rules on sock colour. We can't speak for every program, so confirm with your coach.
